Contrary to popular belief, the “Boston Butt” or “Pork Butt” is actually cut from the front shoulder of the pig. They say the name “Boston Butt” comes from the Colonial America era when butchers in Boston would ship pork cuts, primarily the shoulders, in containers called “butts”.
This roast is perfect for smoking, grilling, baking, or slow cooking! Personally, we love cooking ours in a slow cooker and making pulled pork BBQ!
